Hiya
I recently updated to this version, since mediacoder prompted me to download it (Mediacoder x64 0.8.29.5598) and I get two problems
One is I start the program, it instantly crashes, then restarts, then lets me get into it, and if I try to encode to x264 video, I get an instant error 14
I tracked the problem down though, its the setting "full range sample setting" under x264 settings, if this is set to enabled, the problems occur such as the program crashing on startup, and being unable to encode x264 video files, if this is turned off, the program behaves normally and you can encode x264 video files

This error still exists in Mediacoder x64 0.8.29.5599
Re: Mediacoder x64 0.8.29.5598 Crash on startup and video er
Using v5599, I can replicate the Error 14 but I don't seem to get the crash on startup. If it's not a setting that you need to enable, I suggest leaving it off.
Also, new versions of MediaCoder still have a tendency to be unstable (it's still in beta stage) so if you find that a newer version breaks something, re-install the version you were using before. Older versions can be downloaded here: http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MediaCod ... s#download. Make sure to tick the "Revert current settings" checkbox in the installer setup to prevent any incompatible settings being saved.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.

@Huggil
Typically its an option you want to have on for lots of scenes with high chroma differences, since it processes full range from 0-255, vs I think normal which is 16-235
This may not seem like a big deal, but scenes with lots and lots of dark area's will often be heavily pixelated

Then it may be better for you to re-install the older version you know that works. Unless there's a new feature in the newer release that you need?
Also, if you want to disable update notifications, go into Settings > Overall> Generic > Ignored Build > set it to 9999. You won't get update notifications until MediaCoder hits build 9999.
