mp3 to wma conversion problem

Post by youri » Sun Sep 19, 2010 11:08 pm

hello,

I am trying to convert files from mp3 to wma but I don't succeed. I begin by adding a mp3 file to the list, then, in the Audio tab I choose WM Encoder as an encoder and WMA 9 as a format. I click on the button "click here to adjust parameters for the codec" in the WM Encoder tab and change "mode" and "format" values. after converting, I obtain this file :

General
Complete name : C:\tmp\encoded\File1.wma
Format : Windows Media
File size : 492 KiB
Duration : 7mn 54s
Overall bit rate mode : Constant
Overall bit rate : 8 482 bps
Maximum Overall bit rate : 8 357 bps
Track name :
Performer :
Encoded date : UTC 2010-09-19 12:50:12.233

Audio
ID : 1
Format : WMA2
Format profile : L2
Codec ID : 161
Codec ID/Info : Windows Media Audio 2
Description of the codec : Windows Media Audio 9.1 - 8 kbps, 8 kHz, mono 1-pass CBR
Duration : 7mn 54s
Bit rate mode : Constant
Bit rate : 8 000 bps
Channel(s) : 1 channel
Sampling rate : 8 000 Hz
Resolution : 16 bits
Stream size : 464 KiB (94%)
Language : French

even if I change the bit rate and the sampling rate, the result is always the same, always 8 kbps and 8 khz. I want to have a file with 20 or 40 kbps, and 22 to 44 khz. how to do that?

thanks.

Build 0.7.5.4742

Hi,
Since you haven't mention which mediacoder build you are using........I'll assume you're on the latest build..........
I tried with the latest build encoding an .mp3 to wma and it works with the default settings. i.e. "96 kbps, 44 kHz, stereo (A/V) CBR"
most of the options available under "click here to adjust parameters for the codecs" does not function as expected. So.......
You have to play around a bit with the mode and sampling rate to find the right combination.

You can also try 20 kbps, 22 kHz, stereo CBR i tried and it works.....

cheers
