Can't input my own video size?

Post by ant » Tue May 18, 2010 12:15 am

Hi!

How come I can't enter my video's picture dimension size. I had to use the pulldown menu values.

Thank you in advance. :)

Hi,
Use the Resize button just left to the preset selection list under the Picture tab.
Enable Resize (Enabled=true) if it's not done in the main window
Enter the required height and width (Click Height or Width; Enter value in the bottom field; Click Apply.
NB: You must have Firefox or XULrunner to use any of the advanced settings in Mediacoder
Best wishes

Thanks! I assume height value is set automatically from enabled aspect ratio option.

Then why when I enter a number x, then it adds a height value by itself?

Why not just type the resoltution you want directly into the box and override the Y-resolution ?

I thinkk you'll find that when a single value (X) is typed into the Resize box, MC merely tries to outguess you by selecting the nearest coordinates (X, Y) from its list of resolutions (drop down menu). In that case, or after selecting a pair from the menu, do as Anoncrow suggested, just modify any one of the entries manually.

Moreover, whatever you set will refer only to the 'frame', resolution (it sets the Frame Aspect Ratio -- see viewtopic.php?f=17&t=8197&start=0).
The enabling of the Aspect Ratio (either one) will then define/set the Pixel Aspect Ratio.
Finally, whether you actually get the Frame AR or the PAR, ie the final Display AR, depends on whether your choices of both the FAR and the PAR are supported by the chosen Encoder (read above link).

Maybe I wasn't wrong then. Get a calculator just in case:
