Hard to convert videos?

Post by ant » Mon Sep 18, 2006 4:08 pm

Is it me or is it hard to convert videos with MediaCoder v0.5.1 build 2562? I am not a video expert. Maybe I have the wrong settings or I am doing something wrong.

Here's my source file properties:
General #0
Complete name : E:\test\test.mpeg
Format : MPEG-2
Family : MPEG-2
File size : 185 MiB
PlayTime : 1mn 38s

Video #0
Codec : MPEG-2 Video
Codec settings : CustomMatrix
PlayTime : 1mn 38s
Bit rate : 19000 Kbps
Bit rate mode : CBR
Width : 1280
Height : 720
Aspect ratio : 16/9
Frame rate : 59.94 fps
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.344
Delay : 18000

Audio #0
Codec : AC3
Bit rate : 448 Kbps
Bit rate mode : CBR
Channel(s) : 6 channels
Sampling rate : 48 KHz
Delay : 18000
Video0 delay : 0
ChannelPositions : Front: L C R, Rear: L R, Subwoofer

I want to convert it to Windows Media Video, DivX with its MP3 audio, or QuickTime MOV. Basically, I want the file small enough (already cropped in the program) to transfer to a friend. It doesn't need to be high quality. 352x240, mono, and 8000khz setup is fine.

I can play the original source file just fine with play button, so I assume it is fine (using MPlayer?).

I looked at the FAQ, Wiki, etc. but they didn't help. What settings am I supposed to use?

Also, how do I make QuickTime MOV files? I don't see QuickTime MOV listed. Lastly, how do I revert back to default settings? Maybe I hosed my settings.

Thank you in advance. :)
