Hello and welcome to the MediaCoder forums, we hope that you enjoy using MediaCoder.

This "Basic Discussions" forum is for the basics and just getting started questions.

Please realize that MediaCoder is in development and so you'll have to do some experimenting and testing. Your testing and ideas will help out the continued development of Media Coder.

Suggestions to make things easier:

1. There is a more stable "Candidate Release" or "Previous Version" of Media Coder in the download section. This has been tested more and will have less problems. For older versions that may work better as well, read this: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6917

Also keep in mind that installing or updated to the latest version/build of MediaCoder may introduce more problems. Sometimes it may be better to stick with what you have, if it works for you.

2. Please also install the additional "Extra Codecs Pack", this provides support for other older codecs.
3. Make sure you search the forum for potential answers before you post a question by using the "Search" box above.

Read these tips and rules before posting:
Rules for posting: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=7809&start=0
Tips and Guides for using MediaCoder: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=8061

4. To post a comment or question you will have to register. After registering, as a new user, your first three posts may have to be approved in advance. Posts that violate the rules of the forum, may be disapproved, deleted or edited.

When you post a question, please help us by including the following:
a. Your operating system (Windows 98, 98SE, XP, Vista, Windows 7, 64 or 32 bit....etc)
b. Your version/build of MediaCoder
c. Type of file you are working with--your original source (audio, video, codecs, containers). You can press F8 for file information.
d. Type of file you want to make and what you hope that it will playback on.
e. Your specific problem. Please give examples.

If you don't provide the above information, your post may not be answered.

5. Just post your question once, do not duplicate your post to other sections.
6. SPAM, commercial advertising, advertising included in postings or signatures will not be tolerated. Violators will be banned without discussion.

Thanks, and we hope to hear from you.
