Output file way too small (Matroska/h.264/MP3)

Post by bushtuckerman » Thu Jun 11, 2009 11:14 pm

Can anyone help me? I am trying to transcode a file which shows the estimated output size as 8.8 GB, but when transcoding the statistics is only shows 9 MB and the file ends up being 9 MB anyway. Below are the settings.

OUTPUT:

Target Format
Container - Matroska
Video - H.264
Mode - 2-Pass
Bitrate - 8000 Kbps
Audio LAME MP3
Bitrate - 216 Kbps
ESTIMATED SIZE - 8873 MB

-Why when in the summary prior to the transcode the estimated output size is 8873 MB, but the output size ends up only 9 MB?? In statistics during the transcode it is also 9 MB??

-In the statistics during the transcode the bitrate shows 13 Kbps??

-The audio output I selected is LAME MP3 at 256 Kbps, yet in the summary prior to any activity it only shows 216 Kbps??

The only other thing, would be that you've set things up wrong (see bitrate below)

Target Format
Container - Matroska
Video - H.264
Mode - 2-Pass
Bitrate - 8000 Kbps
Audio LAME MP3
Bitrate - 216 Kbps
ESTIMATED SIZE - 8873 MB

The estimated size can't be right (I think) based on a total bitrate of only around 8300 Kbps (8000+216) Right?
Its 2.5 hours long, 9GB seems alright at 8 Mbps.

He said 9MB, over and over. I find it hard to believe he'd mix up GB and MB so many times.

He clearly understands the difference between 9MB and 9GB. My question is - does the video play properly? (so only the summary is messed up) Or is the container completely empty and useless?
