why when do 20,000 bit rate look blurry?

when i do 16,000 it look fine. i am talking about the latest dev version. 20,000 is max bit rate there. but when i do 20,000 it make video blurry. 16,000 look way better. why is that?

Interesting...

With set 16000 kbps - yes, MEncoder use this value - but of course can reach only maximum compresibility (for example ~6000 kbps).

With set 20000 kbps - funny, Mencoder use 20 kbps  - but of course can reach only minimum compresibility (for example ~1500 kbps).

Check bitrate in transcoded file used MediaInfo or GSpot...
Also use Bitrate Viewer and look at minimum, maximum and average bitrate.

BTW
In 'official' Xvid, max bitrate to set is 10000 kbps.

Of course can use quality-based (target quantizer) mode - with near 100% (quantizer near 1) can reach more than 20000 kbps. But often it is a waste of space...
