Post by d'so » Tue Aug 15, 2006 8:45 am

I have downloaded and unistalled 6 times now. Everyhting is fine until I try to open the program for the first time. It says that windows has encountered an error and must close. Only for this prgram does this happen. Any solutions?

First make sure to match your CPU to the download.

What does that mean?

I've had the exact same problem, but I don't have any idea what match the CPU to the download is.

i've gone back through previous versions, the only one which will run without crashing is 0.5.0 build 2338
is there anything particular about this build which might help identify the issue?

What's your CPU. The default distribution requries SSE, so if your working with Athlon/Duron or Pentium-II, then it will crash.

I am running a Dell 9100 with a Pentium D and an Athlon PC and I have the same problem on both boxes. I would assume one of these meets your criteria and it should work, but after several tries I still get a crash as soon as it starts up.

Athlon doesn't have SSE support, in this case, please download the i686 update (update for non-SSE CPUs) here:

Thanks Stanley.

I downloaded both updates and now MediaCoder works on both PCs.

Doesn't work for me

Installed mediacoder-0.5.1-pre1.zip; told it not to run when installed. Installed into the default location.
Installed mediacoder-update-2405-i686.zip. Installed into the default location.

When running mediacoder it starts, I skip the setup wizard, then crashes.

Please tell me what files / urls you used to install.
