WMV to ipod format to be played on a TV

I am just starting to learn how to use mediaCoder and i am trying to take wmv files and convert them for my ipod with the highest possible setting so i can play them on the TV. every attempt i have made so far give me very slow video that is not in sync with the audio. how do i do this correctly??
