converting to wmv issue (video plays fast)

Post by koawmfot » Wed Jul 30, 2008 4:04 am

i have converted a vob file into raw video and audio, and it plays fine and everything is synced the way it should be.

now if i try and convert to WMV, the video is like 4x the speed of the audio.

i am using build 4150.

the settings for video is
mode: quality based, 100%
format: windows media
container: default
source: auto select
encoder: WM Encoder

the setting for audio is:
source: auto select
Encoder: windows media
resample: original
channel: original
audio id: 1
gain: 0db

the only setting for picture that is set is frame rate, which is set to original.

the original file specs are:

container: avi
bitrate: 125830 Kbps
duration: 375.6 sec
size: 5635 mb

video (0): I420
bitrate 684000 Kbps
resoultion: 720x480
frame rate: 29.97 fps

Audio (1): pcm
bitrate: 1536 Kbps
sample rate: 48000 Hz
channel 2

so when i convert the video is way too fast, but the audio is fine.

any suggestions?

actually i all had to do was change the framerate to 25 and the conversion was fine. i find that kind strange since the original was 29.97 and keeping the original framerate didn't work, but changing it did. weird, but hey, whatever works...

anyway, i love this product.

I believe the movie you have was shoot in film (24 fps) and was Telecined (look under 2:3 pulldown). If that's the case, I suggest using 23.976 fps (24000/1001 in MediaCoder) to reverse the process.
