Hi there,
I'm trying to convert RM to AVI. MediaCoder plays the video quite well. But when converting, it stops right away, 'no file is outputted', and the log is empty.
If I convert just the audio it gets OK.
Any clue as to how get at least an error message in the log?
TIA.
Roger

I convert rm files through MediaCoder and it works just fine. I don't know what going on with you, but I have installed K-Lite 4.0 Mega Pack. Also can you post the rm video codec information here so we can have a look at it?

I had Real Media installed, but then heard that I would need Real Media Alternative in order to convert. Since I've installed that, my GOM media player ceased to play the video, and gave the following information, which I don't know if it is relevant for your evaluation.
Thanks for the interest.
(As the audio converts OK I don't put info about it).

I also gathered this info on rm codecs installed.

By the way, I've found the log, it wasn't empty, but it doesn't show errors, just begins and ends the conversion right away.

Also, what exactly is your AVI video settings? You view those by clicking on the MediaCoder's video tab.
Dear mixer,

It's the newest version, I've upgraded today: 0.6.1.4150.
Settings: Bitrate based, 1200 Kbps, XviD, AVI, profile DXN Portable NTSC, Profile (the same I've always used), B-frames 0, nothing else set

Mediacoder shows this info on the rm video:

Codec : RealVideo 2
Codec/Info : H263, RealVideo 6
PlayTime : 35mn 8s
Bit rate : 268 Kbps
Width : 352 pixels
Height : 288 pixels
Display Aspect ratio : 1.222
Frame rate : 25 fps
Resolution : 12 bits
Bits/(Pixel*Frame) : 0.106

BTW, Mediacoder still plays the video OK. And I'm sure it's not a problem with folder or file names for it converts the audio if I ignore the video.

Txs for the interest.

I think I've circumscribed the problem: if I set the encoder as Default, it closes 'no file outputted'. If I change the encoder for XviD, it generates a file ... but a mp4 file(!!??) that plays but the audio out of synch.
GOM player diagnoses:

*** DIRECTSHOW FILTER LIST ***
1. Default DirectSound Device
2. Video Renderer
3. Gretech Audio
4. Overlay Mixer
5. ffdshow Audio Decoder
6. Gretech Video
7. Gretech MP4 Source

*** VIDEO INFO ***
Input Type : mp4v(GVC)
Input Size : 352 x 288
Output Type : YUY2
Output Size : 352 x 288
FrameRate(Frame/sec) : 0.00 (25.00)

*** AUDIO INFO ***
SampleRate(Sample/sec) : 44100
BitRate(Bit/sample) : 16
Channels : 2
KBitRate(KBit/sec) : 127

Setting the encoder to x264 it generated a similar file but IN synch.
The other Mediacoder settings are,
Mode: bit-rate based, 1200 Kbps
Format: XviD
Container: AVI
Source: default

I think we have a bug here... ;-)

To check that it is really an encoding problem, I set the output to raw and it worked OK. Pity I don't have as much space as to convert the entire file to raw and then compress it with regular xvid...

Make sure multiplexer is set to disable under Muxer Tab when using AVI as your container.

Did you change the multiplexer to disable as suggested above your post?

BTW

MediaCoder not use external (installed in system) codecs (with some exceptions).
rogdias wrote:... I had Real Media installed, but then heard that I would need Real Media Alternative in order to convert. ...
Same as above.
MediaCoder (MPlayer/MEncoder) use directly RealMedia libraries from /MediaCoder/codecs/.

No, I had already installed an earlier version as suggested by the link above. And there I noticed no difference between disabling or leaving the multiplexer in the default.
