Post by dmdevotee » Tue Jul 08, 2008 5:25 pm

I have some .vob ripped from dvds in 4:3 and 16:9 and i want to convert it to 640x480 (4:3) or 640x360 (16:9)

Under Picture Tab, you will see resize option. Type in the resolution. Make sure the box checked.

Forgot that Picture Tab isn't shown in the iPod/iPhone edition of MediaCoder. For now, setup the extension as you normally. Then go to File --> Settings. A new window will pop up.

MediaCoder Preferences Widow
Video Filters --> Scaling --> Width = 640 (enter value in the box below, then click apply button)
Video Filters --> Scaling --> Height = 360 (enter value in the box below, then click apply button)

When you're ready, click the start button.

If you re-read the post above yours again, I was telling you how to setup custom resolution in ipod/iphone edition.

the solution was install firefox 2.0 in mediacoder directory

but it is possible to mediacoder detect a 4:3 or 16:9 source to encode to 640x480 or 640x360, or at least 640x480 with horizontal black bars??

No. MediaCoder doesn't determine resolution by it's source aspect ratio. That's something you have to come up with.

Are you referring to letterboxing?
