The screen resolution of iPhone and iPod touch is 480x320. Why do you want 480x360 video?

Follow these steps in order to convert a widescreen video into a full screen video with letterbox.

1. Run MediaCode iPod/iPhone Edition.
2. Go to File --> Revert All Settings (This ensures a fresh setup).
3. Close MediaCoder.
4. Open MediaCoder again.
5. Import widescreen video into MediaCoder.
6. Setup program as you normally would. Select 640x480 as your resolution.
7. Click "Crop" button, then select Auto Expand to Fit.
8. Click "Start" button.

I thin what the poster (and I) is wanting is to be able to bring in 16:9 or cinema formats into the iPhone without truncating it or stretching it (vertically or horizontally).

I believe the way you described how to do this above will either stretch or truncate the film.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hi - I've been trying to do the same... and have found a way! :)

Assuming your initial file is a wide-screen file (e.g. 856 x 480 or some such) then set the 4:3 size of the file you want as output (e.g. 320 x 240) as per normal.

Then go into the Easy Cropper and select "Fit Width" in the MODE, and assuming you have Aspect Ratio set at 1.333:1 the preview should have the letterbox bars top and bottom.
Click DONE and then start the transcoding as normal... and you should have a widescreen file letterboxed for 4:3 viewing pleasure.

Hope this helps.
