I Think This Is A Stupid Question - DVD Ripping

Post by Bingo » Thu Apr 17, 2008 8:15 am

Hello -

Thanks for the great program. So far it's exactly what I've been looking for!

I looked around for a good while and didn't see an answer for this. Please accept my apologies if I've just overlooked it!

I have some (non protected) DVDs that contain multiple episodes all on 1 DVD. Selectable from the menu.

What I want to do is convert each individual episode to it's own file.

I've found how to convert the entire DVD, but not just 1 individual file off the disc.

So what I have is a DVD with a structure like
video_ts.vob
vts_01_0_.bup
vts_01_0_.ifo
vts_01_0_.vob
vts_01_1.vob
vts_01_2.vob
vts_01_3.vob
vts_02_0.bup
etc...etc...

My guess is that all the vts_01 files are episode 1, vts_02 files ep 2 and so on.

So how can I pull just that collection of files to convert into 1 new file, or is it even possible?

Thank you very much for any suggestions!

I dunno what are episodes or what but try dragging them all into nero and make your own dvd, scene by scene.

I appreciate the reply. However, what I have IS already a DVD, and I am wanting to encode it into a different format, such as avi or wmv.

And an episode is an individual show. Such as "The boxed set of The Simpson's contains all 24 episodes from Season 2" or more specifically, "My dvd contains 7 episodes of an old television show that I want to convert into 7 seperate avi files".

I'm on WinXp using MediaCoer Version 0.6.1 build 4045.

Hopefully that clears things up! :)

Load DVD in drive and run DVD Decrypter in IFO mode. Highlight by episode and rip one at a time.

VTS_01 is NOT episode 1

DVD VOBS are split up into .99gb files; the split is arbitrary.

If all the episodes were encoded under the same menu you have to use IFO mode.
