what setting do I use to get h.264 with AC3 in avi format. everytime I try it my way with two pass it crashes at the end of the first pass. with one pass i only get 1 hour:35 minutes the movie should be 2:35.
I dont care if it takes a long time I just want it to work. what are alll the settings I need to set for what I want?

H.264 + AC3 in AVI is not a valid combination.

Stanley,

I just converted a .mov file with mono audio to AVI using H.264 + AC3.

Only problem audio is a bit out of sync with the picture. Fixed bitrate produces a large offset while both 2 pass and 3 pass pruduce the same amount of delayed audio. Less delayed than that of Fixed bitrate.

1st of all hats off to Stanley for an EXCELLENT software & that too a freeware...kee[ up the good work....well a little abt myself...i am not a software developer or anything like that but a self taught PC & Mac Enthusiast. i've been into Video and Audio transcoding for about 5 years now so i could help u stan with a guide so to speak.

with reagrds to avi container u can use h.264 and ac3 but i wouldn't advise as avi has difficulty handling the h.264 avc stream so what i would suggest that u could use h.264+ac3 in mkv container as it supports almost all known video and audio streams..
