Core i3 Ivy Bridge too old for Intel encoder?

Post by BL38 » Mon Jan 23, 2017 2:53 am

I used to have good performance with the Intel encoder and hardware acceleration. Then stupidly I "upgraded" to the latest and greatest version of MediaCoder 0.8.47.5872. No more hardware acceleration. Error 14. Can't use Intel encoder any more. And (with other things equal) transcode speed drops from 2.1x to 1.2x. The current (2016) version of Intel Media SDK does not support my processor.

Fortunately found a site with older versions. Reverted to MediaCoder-0.8.34.5700, that uses an older version of the Intel Media SDK. Regained the previous capability (Intel encoder) and performance.

Hardware: see title. System Windows 10 Home. Maybe some words of warning on the MediaCoder download page would be helpful for users with such "old" systems as mine...
