MakeMKV format to MPEG4

Hello from a complete novice!

I've downloaded MakeMKV to my Windows 7 laptop and have tried this out opening VLC, the volume and picture is good.

Using MediaCoder add name of film title .mkv and I have managed to stream this to MPEG4 I haven't touched the settings so as default.

When played back through laptop the picture quality is not too bad, but the sound is low.

Is there any way I can tweak these settings to increase the volume and improve the picture quality?

The media will be played on a tablet.

Do you mean that you have converted an mkv video to mpeg4? according to my experience, mkv's codec is h264. Mpeg4 is an old encodec so that may cause peoblem. Maybe you can change a video converter like winxdvd or wondershare. They may be a little bit better than MakeMKV for my perspective.
