Post by Sarbrak » Sun Apr 17, 2016 1:11 pm

hello my name is Sarbrak

I wonder if someone will have a good setup forvgenerate MP4 videos with good quality but do not consume much space.

example: I have movies that are 2 GB but I would like to decrease to 1 GB.

and tried several COMBINATIONS but the image remains with many pixels

your question is too vague to answer.
I usually transcode a 720p with the X264 crf22 settings. It comes out with a very reasonable size / quality ratio

If you want to reduce filesize further, you could
- transcode audio (AAC 80 or 64 kbps is fine for a lot of content)
- downscale video (keep the aspect ratio though)
- use crf23 or higher

you have to decide for yourself what you want to sacrifice on. If the source is 1080p, it can make sense to downscale to 720p or even smaller. 720x404 or something, is still reasonable, though picture quality is obviously well below HD.

Tell us more about the input file; and where you want to view the output.
