Hello there,
since Handbrake has some shortcomings, I’m trying MediaCoder. But I’ve an issue with efficiency as follows.
Regardless of Source and Encoder, the CPU usage of the decoder (as given by "Decoder CPU%" in the Statistics window) is quite high—about 60%.
That’s far over the normal range of a modern 4 core CPU (for comparison: during playback in MPC it’s about 16% (when disabling HW support)) and has two implications: First it limits the CPU power available for encoding and filtering and second power usage goes up.
So what can I do about it?
Regards,
Robert

What is the input video's format/spec?
When things work together, things work.
Re: High CPU usage by decoder
It’s AVC (Main@L4), codec ID avc1 in a MPEG-4 container (isom).stanley wrote:What is the input video's format/spec?

Hu, I thought I’ve already posted an answer.stanley wrote:What is the input video's format/spec?
Ok, so again: The file is in an isom container and the codec is AVC Main@L4 .
