The new versions of Mediacoder with H.265 support is actually 1.00x slower even converting using the H.264 setup is slow now. Just wanted to know if it is only me or are there others who have had experienced this. I tested the 0.8.28.5588 version of Mediacoder which didn't have H.265 support was fast when converting H.264 with placebo setting. And yes i have i7 processor but newer versions are so darn slow, so i am sticking with version 0.8.28.5588 until speed with newer version with h.264 is fixed to be same or faster than the old version and yes i have tested all latest version out yet but still no speed improvement.

What do you mean by 1.00x slower?

I mean that old version of mediacoder is faster than the new one. The old version in placebo setting has a speed of 1.50 -1.80x speed but in new version with H.265 support, mediacoder has speed of 0.50-0.80x speed when converting mp4 video with H.264. I tried turning SVE on but speed increases to 12.00x and after 1-2 minutes drops back to between 0.80-0.90 and increases again to 12.00x after 4-6 minutes and repeats like that but it takes around 6-5 mins longer than without SVE on, so i guess turning of sve is better. Or maybe there is a problem with my system, will try reinstalling windows 7 but dont think it will be any time soon.

I haven't noticed much of a difference in speed with the newer versions... It might be particular settings though that have suffered a drop in speed though since I've never used the Placebo setting before.
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.

Well, I just switched to MediaCoder 0.8.30.5620 and x265 encoder doesn't work !
Everything was fine with version 0.8.29.5608 , even x265 encode...Just a question: are there some problems in 0.8.30.5620 x265 encoder on x86 machine ?

thanks

For encoding h.265, the newest version, 5622 still crashes as much as 5620 version. Currently 5608 is still the most reliable version.

It might be helpful by providing more details on how it crashes. What error messages? What settings? What's your source file? The more info, the more helpful it is to troubleshoot any bugs there might be.

Hi,
I've have a error 14 during an encode a 1080p FULLHD x264.mkv into x265 HEVC.mkv. I have a mediacoder version 0.8.30 build 5622.
I have windows 7 64 bit.
Why x265 have a crash with error 14?

You're right, sorry about that. Anyway here they are:

Error messages: I can't quite remember and I haven't been using Mediacoder all that much, so sorry. Though, I think it's 014, basically it told me the h.265 encoding has crashed.

Settings:
The only things that I changed from default settings:
Custom resolution (704 x 369)
Video Bitrate: 500 kbps
Container: MKV
Preset: Tried 5 times on Ultra Fast, Very Fast and Faster. Couldn't try anything lower because they were too slow for me.

Source File
Tried two mp4 files, encoded in x264. I'm sure it's not my mp4 files' fault, because I could convert them successfully with MediaCoder 5608, when I couldn't with 5622.

I tried 5 times before giving up and installed 5608 back. I wanted to try more, but you know the encoding process can be very long and they crash randomly.

Hopefully that helps.

You seem to be having a similar error to GetLoki as well...

Trying out x265 on mine has no issue with H264-encoded MP4 files. However, you'll have to tell me how to set a custom resolution because it's possible that is the cause of the error. Or you could try transcoding with a standard resolution like 360p and see how that goes.
