I have reverted to several 2011 versions in a 'portable' mode (another partition etc) - which work OK.

Note that on trying a new version I fully uninstall the previous version then install the full new version while selecting *REVERT SETTINGS*. But I'm having no success with that method or any variations of it. Again 2011 versions (run as portables) all seem to work fine. I'm reluctant to remove them as they're the only working systems.

What exactly do you mean by this. I ask because I have not experienced it and nor have most other users, else there would have been many reported failures.

I get the Splash Screen then the Welcome Screen opens below it and then there's the Application crash report. I copied and pasted that report in the first request. Are there descriptions of (links to) procedures for a complete uninstall (all hidden/app/local/temp files and all registry entries)? That's the obvious next thing for me to do (since the MediaCoder uninstall doesn't do it) and despite my efforts I imagine some files or registry entries are evading me.

Soksam: if you would like a response or some help please explain what the problem is, how it arose, etc.
Maybe even indicate whether you had read some of the Guides, did a Search of the forum or even tried to resolve the issue before seeking help.
Did you, for example, try a more stable version, such build 5392?

I've tried with several releases : MediaCoder-x64-0.8.23.5530, MediaCoder-x64-0.8.21.5393, MediaCoder-x64-0.8.20.5380
Same problem as descripted above with all releases : the splash shows then the Start Screen and crash...

Ok, solved. I deleted a registry key to solve the problem :

HKEY_USERS\CurrentProfilId\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
Key : Path to MediaCoder mine was -> "E:\Program Files\MediaCoder\mediacoder.exe"
Value : "WIN7RTM RUNASADMIN"

"WIN7RTM" (Windows 7 compatibility mode) it was added by a previous setup ???

I am now having similar problems with MediaCoder on startup.

My system is Win7 Pro 64bit with all current .Microsoft updates / patches installed.

I do a clean install (ie no existing directory into which mediacoder installs) of MediaCoder-x64-0.8.23.5530 with a revert of the settings.
On startup, I get the Mediacoder splash screen and the "Welcome to media coder" window.
A short time later, a Window pops stating "Media Coder has stopped working"
Does not appear to be related to user privs as I have tried running it with bot my standard user and as Admin -- both produce the same result.

I have tried out all of the more recently released versions of MediaCoder and the last version that I can get to reliably start now on my system is 0.8.16.5298.

Any release from (& including) 0.8.19.5372 will not start.

If I can assist in diagnosing the problem with further system info / crash dumps etc, please let me know.

I love the program and would dearly like to get the newer versions running.

Does the problem occur with a more stable build, such as 5392?
