MediaCoder trying to access "internet" ?

I'm using mediacoder from long time, but for first time experiencing that funny situation. I know that you are releasing new versions almost everymonth and added exception into my 3rd party firewall called ZoneAlaram for the media coder update server. I was wondering long time does it worth to mention that your program is trying access internet. Are you trying to make us a part of botnet network - who knows

Got exception for the updates, so what's these connections trying to access internet ? got paid license for Norton Antivirus, using at least 2 times in week Malwarebytes, cleaning my pc weekly with CCleaner. Any information from the Developers will be useful.

Do you use a MediaCoder ID? Also, whenever MC checks for updates on my computer, it ends up opening two tabs in my browser. One's blank and just has "show_minimised" or something as the site header while the second is the actual update page. I'm wondering if that first page might have something to do with this.

EDIT: Was just reading through a guide by MeRobs on the different editions of MediaCoder and he says:

Use of the ID gives you the added advantage of not having the prompt between batch tasks (set because batch encoding is limited in the 'free' versions) and the avoidance of random popup webpages. (see: http://www.mediacoderhq.com/donate/).

So if you don't have a MediaCoder ID, you might have discovered a way to block those random webpage popups
