newbie question:

Hi,
I use MC64 latest version.
Task is to convert a .mkv file with flac-audio into a .mkv file with mp3-audio.
Works so far, but all subtitles (videosource contains them) are lost.
Preview window doesn't show subtitle information, too.

What's going wrong ?

Thanks.

On the Subtitle tab (4 to the right of the Picture tab), set Renderer = 'Default' if you wish to burn the chosen subtitle stream into the video.
Suggest you read the Guide on Subtitles, under Tips & Guides (link below).

Renderer ist set to default.
Lets go step-by-step: note that there are no subtitles in the MC-preview window,
is this a bug or a standard behavior of MC64 ?

the F8-info taken from the input video:

Text
ID : 2
Format : ***
Codec ID : S_TEXT/***
Codec ID/Info : Advanced Sub Station Alpha
Compression mode : Lossless
Language : German
Default : Yes
Forced : No

Your suggested link has some important information (I wished they were outdated):
"After some fiddling in MediaCoder build 5175, I was not able to create a subtitle stream when outputting to MKV from a text file (SRT or SUB).

Nor was I able to copy a subtitle stream from a source file to the output file. Also, a search of the Forum failed to reveal any other clues."

As the Guide states, I am not aware of any way of copying over a subtitle stream

I will agree with meRobs statement. I have worked with subtitles and I have found no way to copy subtitles from input to output using Mediacoder. Since you are going from a mkv to a mkv I would do what I always do in this case. I extract the subtitle file from the original mkv file, make what ever conversions I want to do with Mediacoder when making the new mkv file, and then merge the extracted subtitles back into the new mkv file. This is the only way I get the subtitles back into the new mkv file.
