error 2002 quicktime windows vista
Newbie here! Am trying to find a solution for the error 2002 bad public movie atom. I have many videos I didn't know I could not open them until tonight. I've tried the MP4 something patch and I cannot download it, says I need "elevation" to perform that, and other links online no longer work for other fixes. The videos used to open so am not sure when this occurred! I really don;t know what I can download here and I'm not very technical. If worse comes to worst, I need to pull the audio tracks off the videos into a mp3 file to use on my website. I'm using windows vista home basic 32 bit 1.50 GB Any easy to understand help here? Thanks so much!

I don't understand what you are talking about.fofomebunny wrote:Am trying to find a solution for the error 2002 bad public movie atom. This forum relates to the use of MediaCoder, a program for converting videos files.
Are you using MediaCoder?

I did a Google on Error 2002 quicktime and found others with the same problem
For example, one person (http://www.redkawa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1942) suggested it was due to a clash between Vista, Quicktime, and iTunes and how the three of them deal with the ID3 tags in the mp4 file.
A fix was given that changed the ID3 tag in the MP4 files. Many uses claimed it worked for them.

Re: error 2002 quicktime windows vista
Hi! Thanks for the tips. That link http://wjarrettc.blogspot.com/2007/0...blic-atom.html is the one I have already tried and I get a 404 and come to a dead end when I try the patch they recommend as I'm told I need to "elevate". Whatever. The reason I wrote here is because I was afraid to download MediaCoder not knowing anything and hoping someone could tell me what to download in order to try and convert and rip the audio tracks off of my non-playable videos. I'll keep trying and will check out the other link for tips, thanks!
Re: error 2002 quicktime windows vista
Go to http://www.mediacoderhq.com/dlfull.htm and download MediaCoder. It is safe.
Probably best to choose the x86 version, and install it.
Then, drag/drop one of your videos (from Windows Explorer) into MediaCoder or use the Add button.
If it plays, then it will comvert -- click on the video file in the main panel and use the Play button at the top.
Suggest you try one of the suggestions in the Encoding Guide, at: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9643
Good luck.

I cannot attach a screenshot of the error message. I've just upgraded from Phantom 4 to a P4Pro. I tried VLC Media player and other too. Here's the error message: ERROR 2002 - BAD PUBLIC MOVIE ATOM FOUND IN THE MOVIE. Does anyone have the same problem? How to fix it?
Thanks.
