Hi, welcome to the Forum.
Multiplexer is often enabled, usually as "Auto Select", but sometimes it is not needed.
See the Encoding Guide under Tips & Guides (link below).
The multiplexer or muxer, for short, blends the two separate streams (video and audio) into the final file, referred to as the container.
Check out other Tips & Guides.

thanks for your answer and for your welcome :), now it's a little more clear but i didnt find so a lot informations in the Encoding Guide, i found this:
Group A: the Container and multiplexer. The container is usually known, as defined by the intended purpose (player, etc). The multiplexer is also important and may need changing, depending on the other choices.
Ok so i need a multiplexer for blending the video and audio streams together, and it's important to choose the right one, but i tried a few tests with and without the multiplexer, using an avi container and xvid or ffmpeg as a video codec + mp3 for audio, and i always obtain a single file with video+audio mixed together, so i dont understand if it's really useful or not.

As you may see in the Encoding Guide, some conversions do not need the muxer, the muxing is done by the encoder or whatever. For example, an AVI doesn't usually need a separate muxer. Hence, easier to start with one of the suggestions in that Guide and then change a few settings to suit.

I have a similar problem. I want to add additional audit track (ac3) to video (avi or mkv). I have tried a few tests with avi and mkv video. All times i got the same result, new video without additional audio.
I 'm searching an approach for 2 days on the forum without any valuable results. I found a multiplexer on Container tab. I try to create Group and start transcoding without result.
Can anybody explain me how i can do it?
