How to create MPG1 PAL form VOB

Post by itspete » Tue May 16, 2006 8:27 pm

Hi.

I've tried various ways to produce a MPG1, PAL 352x288, 25fps, 1152bitrate,
Audio 224, 44100, stereo, 2 channels.

The only way I come close is to use MPALYER as source and Lame as MP3 as encoder. The result, although it plays, is not a true MPG1 format.
On checking, it looks like a .DAT container, but is not.

Could you inform me as to the correct settings I need to do, in full?

All the best
Charles

The audio of MPEG-1 isn't MP3. It's MP2. Choose FFMPEG as audio encoder.
Set video format to MPEG-1 and container to MPEG.

Hi.

Many thanks for that.

I tried the settings and it's still not a proper MPG1 container.
Something is not being set. I can't see what.

The file created will plays on VLC, as an example.
But VLC does not examine files properly and will play almost anything, right of wrong.
To test VLC and other players I created a file that looks like an MPG1 and VCD complient, but is'nt anything.
VLC was the only one that played it.

The file be converted corectly by anything else either, or used to create a VCD disc.
So....
I use Zoom Player for many many years as my main PASSer. If a file fails to run on that, then the file is not correct.

Have you a Preset that will create a True PAL MPG1 from a VOB?
It would be very handy to have a few more preset created by you, the expert, for us novices.

Updated.....
I've found the problem. It's not MediaCoder. I had a currupt system codec.
All sorted now....See 'Tips and Guides' for my results.

Once again, many thanks.
All the best
Charles
