Hi, welcome to the forum.
I suggest you begin by trying the two suggestions for AVI in the Encoding Guide: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9643.
Try either one on a small file first.
If this works, as it should, then alter each setting one at a time (bitrate, etc) until you get what you want.
Good luck

Hi, I used the your last settings (posted on Sat) on an MP4 file that contains H264 video and LC-AAC 6 channel sound. You didn't specify how many audio channels you used. That is in the Sound tab. I used Stereo. It converted just fine with no errors. I am using build 5158. Unfortunately each build seems to have it's own unique set of problems since many things always change in each build. What build are you using?

jjforums:
As you could see from the Test Report (viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10383) 4 builds of MediaCoder since 5000 failed to convert properly.
Since you failed to mention the build you use, as requested in the rules, I had assumed you had the latest, 5166.
In this build, I just re-tried the settings given for both AVI choices in the Encoding Guide. They worked.

What are the details for your MP4 source file, as displayed in the Properties panel?
Which of the two AVI settings did you try (AVI-1 or AVI-2)?
What is the last print-out of (beginning with Media Type 0)?

As a second check in build 5166, I converted an AVC/AAC/MP4 file into an Xvid/AVI. It worked.
