It appears i'm unable to find the right setting in mediacoder to enable the interlacing, i'd need some guidance.
The only thing i can find is "flag as interlaced but encode as progressive" which is not what i want to do.I have to back up lots of vhs..
Also, i'd like to specify the Color Matrix but i'm not sure how i should write it in mediacoder, i'm familiar with avisynth so it goes like this: Rec601,Rec709 is it the same here?

Please read the Guide on Interlacing at: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=9867&start=0 -- also under Tips & Guides (link below).
It has just been updated, so if it seems incorrect let me know!

Re: encode interlaced source & Color Matrix
WIndows XP SP3
Mediacoder v 0.8. build 5075
Working with avisynth script (avisource)
output: MP4 / X264/AAC
Goal:
Trying to get an interlaced video properly decoded (flagged as interlaced Top Field First) and is not working sadly, fields are still visible (not deinterlaced).
decoder used: Cyberlink power dvd 10 / Core AVC

Re: encode interlaced source & Color Matrix
As you can see from the Test Report (viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10383) build 5075 fails to function properly for interlacing.
The link I gave earlier indicates that from build 5126 onwards, you can retain interlacing or successfully de-interlace to progressive.
Hence, to not show interlacing artefacts in a software player either set the player to de-interlace or convert your files in MediaCoder with De-interlace "Enabled" (Cubic or YADIF) on the Effects tab opposite the Picture tab.
