XviD fourcc (always FMP4)

Post by rgr » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:18 am

Hi,

is there any solution to setting XviD fourcc to XVID (not DIVX)? MediaCoder always sets FMP4, which is incompatible with Panasonic TV.

Are you using AVI container? I remember I've changed the fourcc for xvid in avi in recent build. Which build are you using?

A fourcc changer is useful to have for any other files you may come across. 8)

I have latest (5075).
Yes, AVI container and xvid codec. I still have FMP4 fourcc :/.

Have you tried the Encoding Guide (under Tips & Guides, link is given below) ?
Especially, Note 4 on the fourCC code.

is this why my XviD encodings don't play on my standalone anymore? i'm setting everything to XviD as i always have, but the output files have
Codec ID : FMP4
which doesn't play on anything that i use xvid for, my phone, tv, dvd player. (in avi)

Quite possibly.
Try setting the fourCC and see.

if i set it to override the fourcc with xvid that will presumably override it for all videos even ones that are not xvid?

i'm a bit confused as to why this option would be changed... i don't see what the benefit is i can only see downsides.

The fourCC setting is reset when you load another Preset or File > Revert all Settings.

I am not aware of why or when the setting was changed.

i think it must be relatively recently. I have a video i encoded on the 22feb2011 that doesn't have this problem

unless there is a substantial upside i think it is a mistake. the only reason why people are using what is essentially a legacy codec, is for backward compatibility. and this breaks that.

come on stan :)
