AVI file, XVID problem on video

Post by kigor » Thu Aug 13, 2015 4:00 am

Hello to all,
I use Mediacoder last few years to convert different video format di AVI (Xvid) to see on DVD player.
After I find correct input setting all work find till few days ago.
Unfortunally Windows crash so I need to reinstall it and of course Mediacore too, last version.
I put all setting again as I remember it. But not work, audio oki, but video not see or better see Pioneer initital image (I have Pioner DVD player DV-310).
After google and search on this forum I found this:
viewtopic.php?f=17&t=11023

And configured like writed:
"So, based on the above comments, my choice for the various tabs in MediaCoder for this test, but see Section 5.5, are as follows.
* Video Tab: Format = Xvid, Encoder = Xvidcore (but see Section 5.5), Source = MEncoder, Video Bitrate = 1000 and Rate Mode = Average Bitrate (ABR).
* Xvid tab (at right): Advanced Simple Profile Level 5, Motion Estimation = Medium search, High Quality Mode checked,
Motion Est. = 6, B-Frames = 1 and all else at their defaults
* Audio tab: Format = MP3, Encoder = LAME MP3, Source = Auto Select and Resample = 44.1 kHz
* LAME MP3 tab (at right): Preset = Custom, Rate Mode = CBR, Channel = Stereo and Bitrate = 96 kbps
* Container tab: Container = AVI and Multiplexer = Auto Select or FFmpeg
* Picture tab: Resize = Original, Frame Rate = Original and all else at defaults (you should choose what suits)2

Again nothing change.
After I think possible problem was picture dimension, so resize on minimal 640x480px
Again nothing change.

I look also info in file what I convert before with GSpot and notice that for video write:
Codec XVID Name XviD ISO MPEG-4

And on all file I convert after windows crash write:
Codec FMP4 Name FFmpeg/ffdshow ISO MPEG-4

It seems like it not recognized I input XVID format and Xvidcore encoder.

I also installed last versione of K-Lite Codec Pack

Any idea what is my problem?

I also have this problem recently.

I convert to watch on an old DVD player connected to my TV and since I upgraded version of MediaCoder I cannot see picture. (sound works still) Have tried to get Codec back to XviD but no success. Perhaps this is the problem, perhaps not but would be one thing off the list.

Any help much appreciated!

In the end I found solution.

Uninstall present version of Mediacoder. Install old one, build 5233.
Put again all setting.

And now all work fine. It seems problem is actual version od Mediacoder

OK. that code the one that now reads FMP4 and You want to read XviD is called the fourcc code. You can manually change it on the files you have already encoded. if you google FourCC changer or something like that.

But it couldn't be there in the first place. Despite being in the video stream it is put there by the muxer. i don't know which muxer is putting it there but i know if you manually set it to ffmpeg then it is correctly set to XviD

ETA - I've just read that encoding guide by meRobs - everything you need to know is covered under the section FourCC :)

I just tested Xvid+AVI encoding with latest version and it works without any problem.
