PSP Firmware >v2.0

Post by Grumpy_Git » Wed May 24, 2006 4:14 am

Has anyone got this to work with firmwares higher than v1.5?

I'm on v2.05 or somesuch and would love this to work.

Are there any plans to support the PSP long term, if you could get it to work with v2.5 you'd be laughing as far as most users are concerned.

Otherwise I love the software so far.

Cheers

Nick.

Hi, when you use PSP presets for Mediacoder (dedicated windows with a PSP as background), it generates a video in .pmp format. This format is only viewable by the program PMP Mod which is actually only available for 1.5 PSP.

Otherwise, maybe you can use Mediacoder to generate native PSP video compatible. It's MP4 format but I don't know the settings or the audio codec needed.

Hi.
I think I've got it for you, but you need to check it out as I don't have PSP.

Video Output Container: H.264/AVC (use H.264 or try H.263+)
Audio Output Codec: AAC
Video Source: 386x208
Frames per sec:29.97
Bitrate kbps:384

Audio Output Container:
4800
Bitrate kbps:64
Channels:2

I'll add it to the 'Tips And Guides' when reported as working fully.
Let me know how you get on.

All the best
Charles.

There is a way for 2.01 - 2.60 FW PSPs to run fullscreen, 480x272 video. This requires usage of the GTA:LCS Cheat Device exploit, and eLoader. There has been disturbing news about new versions of GTA:LCS being patched to avoid homebrew operation. A modchip (similar in concept as the PS2 modchips) is due though, if you're willing to get down and technical.

The actual homebrew application is called PSPlayerMT.

PSPlayerMT is able to play any video that FFMPEG can decode, so you can throw AVI, MPEG, MOV, etc. on it. I've been able to obtain the best possible results with 480x272 Xvid videos, at 750-1000 kbps, depending on the framerate.

Here's the link to PSPlayerMT: (click on the disk icon for download)

The tips from Charles create "Sony approved" AVC videos, meaning that these will play on the PSP at all times. If you add some filter options to these encodes, you can get very nice results as well, especially if your source material is good.

I've just patched MEncoder to let it produce PMP compatible AVC files. It will come with next MediaCoder release.
