Cant group/merge files anymore?

Currently using version 0.8.18 build 5353, when adding files and then
selecting group I get them listed as group/1 but when I transcode
only 1 file gets transcoded and I don't get the desired files joined together.
Cant remember which version I was using about a year ago, but this
option used to work fine. Am I missing something or an option or
some other trick?
