I've been working on a lot of TV series lately and I use AudioCoder to extract an audio file which I use to analyze volume levels. I have been using 5198 until this new version came out. I tested both versions on about a dozen files and I notice that the 5280 version is much slower than the old 5198 version.

On the average 5198 would extract at speeds of 25x in 55 seconds. On the average 5280 would extract at speeds of 5x in 265 seconds.

I checked the settings and both versions are setup the same way. Any ideas as to why the drastic difference in speed ?

are you sure you have the same audio source?

i find ffmpeg as the source for normalising volumes much much faster (about 20x faster,) than the others.

There is an option to let mplayer bypass video processing at Settings->Audio source->Mplayer.

Tried various audio sources. Also tried the settings. Comparing multitude of mkv episodes and creating LC-AAC 2ch audio no gain files. 5280 still much slower than 5198. I'm not saying it doesn't work, just slower. And we all know that time is money....

I guess this happens only when source file is video file. Am I right?

I only work with video files. I use Audiocoder for extracting and modifying the audio portion of the video file, and then I put them back together again.
