Nice contribution. It seems the free version is a cut down from the premium one. Is it better/does it offer more options than dvdshrink (other than still being worked on)?

DVDFab HD Decrypter (Free) is in fact a cut down version of the premium version available through that company.

Nothing will ever be as good DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter for that matter. Both programs were good at it's time but the said truth is, they are no longer maintained/supported and are totally useless against newer DVDs.

DVDFab offer features that go beyond what DVDShrink can do. In order to enjoy the features, you have to buy the premium version (not required).

DVDFab HD Decrypter is very basic and will rip newer copy protection. This will also keep the DVD contents at it's a original quality (transcoding to DVD5 is disable).

Hint! Hint! Hint! --- You can use DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip out the protection and use DVD Shrink for transcoding.

I liked your hint, if I ever cease to be a citizen of Germany I'll be sure to try it out :)

I went to the site, and I'm happy with the program so far, but it seems like the "free" version is just a trial version. Is that what you meant, or am I missing the free version?

The non-gold or platinum version is free.

I think DVD43 is time saving since it decrypts DVD on the fly. we may save the time for decrypting into the HDD

I have found that a program called MobiDVD is very effective for ripping and converting even newer DVDs. I will hac\ve to try DVDFab HD Decrypter though.
