As i was saying earlier i was only referring to the original MPEG4 all the time and not the one bundled with Mediacoder. Even mnh was later asking about "MPEG4 proper" and i was only giving a general clarification :roll: As for H264, It is growing fast and definitely replace Mpeg4 as the default for...

@ladycoder lol you should had posted that point in your earlier posts. When talking about MPEG4 only the original comes in mind. As most people are accustomed to it and Xvid. As my posts was also addressing other users here :wink: I remember using Xvid with an Avisynth script which was designed spec...

When i turn off almost all the Xvid (speed affecting) settings i find it faster than MPEG4 while giving slightly higher quality. MPEG4 while implemented upon by the Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG) under the formal standard ISO/IEC , didn't get much updated except for the small implementations to...

Xvid and MPEG4 have more or less same speed. Its just that Xvid comes enabled with extra settings that increase quality at the expense of speed.

@mnh

H264 is slow when compared to MPEG4 and Xvid.

@ a.fowler * Update iPod firmware to 1.3 * Use iPhone Mediacoder edition * Check if the Medicoder settings to produce iPod Mp4 files are within specification. * Reset the settings of iPod Here is a tip that has worked for me sometimes. Encode the WMV files to Xvid (mencoder) with AVI container. Next...

@mnh It is possible to make transcoding time less than one minute on Intel Celeron at 1,33GHz, but it will cause drastic visual loss. Intel Celeron @ 1,33GHz is a bit slow when compared to the latest Core 2 Duo & Quad's For starters use low res like 320x240 etc. In Xvid settings Lower "Motion Estima...
