Re: XviD fourcc (always FMP4)
I'm not sure that the number of different frame types is very useful to what we are discussing is it?

Re: XviD fourcc (always FMP4)
and that i should update my players. Well, have you ever actually checked if Nokia, Panasonic and LG have updated firmwares available on their websites for your devices ? :P And do they claim to be able to playback XVID/DIVX (within AVI), or MPEG4 ? yes of course. they are all internet enabl...

Re: XviD fourcc (always FMP4)
I'll just pop off and rewrite the firmware for my nokia phone, Panasonic tv and LG bluray player then. there has clearly been a change. it's a bit weird that you think i'm making it up. using ffmpeg it's still XviD. though i'm slightly scared that pointing out this inconsistency will cause a change ...

Re: XviD fourcc (always FMP4)
i think it must be relatively recently. I have a video i encoded on the 22feb2011 that doesn't have this problem unless there is a substantial upside i think it is a mistake. the only reason why people are using what is essentially a legacy codec, is for backward compatibility. and this breaks that....

Re: XviD fourcc (always FMP4)
if i set it to override the fourcc with xvid that will presumably override it for all videos even ones that are not xvid?
i'm a bit confused as to why this option would be changed... i don't see what the benefit is i can only see downsides.
