Re: audio transcoded despite "copy audio" selected ?
I don't know if this is any proof or not, but I picked a string inside the mp3 file ("5TNPq") and looked for that in the video file and expected to find the same string there in the audio stream ... but this wasn't the case. (I know, I should have looked for a hex sequence, but didn't have a hex edi...

audio transcoded despite "copy audio" selected ?
Hi, I'm not sure if there is an error or not, but it's a bit strange, so I felt like asking: I was just copying the audio track (mp3 format) of a video file (77min, 803 MB)with "copy audio" selected. Result: a 74MB .mp3 file. It took 697 secs (i.e. > 11,5 minutes) on my Intel Pentium M Centrino sing...

changin "transcoding audio" to "copying audio" when copying
Suggestion: Changing the text in the main window's title bar from "transcoding audio" to "copying audio" when "copy audio" is selected. (And likewise in "job finished" pop-up window, where the stats are displayed).

page break
Hi.
Is there a way for users to change the page break behavior (e.g. after 10 msgs, 20, 30, 50, 100, never) ?
I'd like to display a whole thread without page breaks, is this possible ?
thank you.

Re: explanation of "quality based"
thanks for sharing your knowledge, stanley and ladycoder. From what I gather here, we can agree that 100% does not mean lossless in any way, right ? And it also does not mean 100% of the source bitrate. It's just an arbitrary value, and one could just as well have used a scale from 1 to 12 (with 12 ...

Re: explanation of "quality based"
... therefore it is VBR
The bit rate goes up and down depending on the speed, detail, etc. of the scenes.
*all* these statements are true for BOTH quality-based mode and 2/3-pass-modeStatic scenes get less; fast scenes more.

Re: explanation of "quality based"
OK then, since we're not talking about the general idea, then this may help since it's the "engine encoder": http://www.mplayerhq.hu/DOCS/HTML/en/menc-feat-dvd-mpeg4.html#menc-feat-dvd-mpeg4-2pass (actually you may be interested in the rest of the document). Very interesting, I had a quick look on ...
