Build 0.8.18.5360 NVENC encoding does not work
Encoding a DVD-compliant Mpeg to h264, usind default presets for Ipad..... Chaged the encoder type to "NVENC" and ticking the "GPU" radio button under the video tab.... (no other changes to settings) This results in error code 15. I am using a GTX650 as the encoding GPU.....which is recognised by me...

Re: Anyone messed around with the NVENC option ?
Update:
you can't really "force"mediacoder to use nvenc....
if you select "auto" in the video tab after selecting NVENC as the encoder - it does run,
but slowly....
if you select "GPU"it just crashes, leading me to believe the nvenc option does not really work at all

Re: GTX Titan is out...
Matey - Wish it were otherwise....but i have tried them all - free, paid - you name it.... They mostly all disappoint - especially the paid ones - the quality is woeful, and the encode times are a joke. The one that Nvidia used to sell is particularly bad.... Mediacoder and one other make the grade a...

Re: GTX Titan is out...
Matey - i recently upgraded from a gts250 to a gtx650.... 3 times the number of cores.... bugger all difference in speed.....if anything its marginally slower :-( adding insult - the gts250 was about 50% utilised according to gpu-z.... the 650 is 70% utulised.... i don't think mediacoder will take a...

Re: Anyone messed around with the NVENC option ?
Matey - just bought a GTX650 to try out this NVENC lark.....previously had a GTS250.... Two disappointing things: 1.) The GTX650 is NO FASTER than the GTS 250 when converting MPEG2 TS captures to I-pad compliant H.264 via cuda... (in fact it is occasionally SLOWER!!!!!!!!!!) Mated to a 1090T - neith...

Re: to low CPU and GPU utilization !!!
Yup - i have a phenom 1090 + GTS250 and can't get mediacoder to utilise more than 50% of each....no matter what settings i try :-( I wonder if it has something to to with the nvidia CUDA code, since other conversion s/w suffers from the same thing? i get around it by having 2 instances of any encode...

Re: Not sure why I'm seeing so much CPU usage when using CUD
matey - short answer is that decoding is done by Mencoder by the CPU which passes data to the CUDA encoder done by the GPU.... You have a comparativly low spec CPU and a whopper of a gpu....I doubt the athlon could decode fast enough to stress the 9800.. (I have a phenom x6 1090t feeding a GTS250 an...

Re: Build R9-5199(64bit): cannot complete paralelly (2jobs)
Stan - i tried parrallel jobs on 5200 (32bit) last night - both completed OK.
one job ran at 6x speed and the other at around 3x.
Same files cause 64bit to crash.
cheers,

Re: "The encoding thread seems to be blocked ...."
Just tried build 5196 - same problem...
only occurs once the encoding is nearly finished....and there are no output files produced - not eve partial ones
It is not a CPU or GPU physical overload problem - they are both at less than 70%...
