does the MediaCoder "audio edition" suffer from the same problem, or does the audio edition not allow video files as *input* ?

Try forcing FFmpeg as video encoder and disable muxer. no, that doesn't work either unfortunately. The conversion process takes some minutes, the progress bar goes from 0% to 100% but then I nonetheless get the error "no file outputed" (sic). Besides, it does not even work with video disabled, i.e....

but that's not the point. "a correct mp3 file" doesn't say whether it has been transcoded or is an true 1:1 copy from the original audio.

I can't rememer anyone here saying it worked for them. If indeed the feature has yet to be implemented, in my opinion it shouldn't be part of the GUI so as not to confuse the users.
