Try switching source to MPlayer under Video Tab. Make sure auto select box is unchecked.

Any videos or tunes bought on iTunes is copy protected. You won't be able to convert it because MediaCoder doesn't strip copy protection.

Under Video Tab, uncheck auto select box next to source. Select MPlayer as source.

Mencoder will no longer crash.
