i mean, where can i get the latest mencoder with the newest x264...
This could be it> http://tirnanog.fate.jp/mirror/mplayer/, but when I replace the mencoder in MediaCoder with this one, the second pass fails to start (it says transcoding audio) and the encoding results in an error...

Please set the default method of resizing to "Precise Bicubic". And set precise bicubic to "0.5" precision. "0.5" is noticeably better than "0.75" at lower bitrates, with almost no decrease in speed.

(x264) I have to manually enter "partitions=all" "b_pyramid=1" "deblock=-2,-1". How about adding these options to the configuration list? Also, your default frameref is 1. Better set to "frameref=3". "frameref=3 gains around 0.25dB PSNR over frameref=1, which should be a visible difference. frameref...
