Re: Have MediaCoder menu indicate current/last loaded preset

the logger in expert mode ?
this doesn't show the previous (i.e. current) profile - only the profile of a new started job?
OK so you could start the job, see it's one you don't want and abort
... but it would be nice to know what the current profile is before starting

Re: the current preset is ... ?

sorry for not being clearer, let me put it another way ... Monday - load preset "PresetMyCam" and convert camera video Friday - open MediaCoder and prepare to convert camera video - and ask myself "what preset loaded last?" I can't remember so I load preset "Preset MyCam". I didn't need to re-load t...

Have MediaCoder menu indicate current/last loaded preset

can i determine what profile is currently loaded without having to deduce it?
(assuming I haven't *just* loaded of course in which case it would be logged)
Searched everywhere (I think) but doesn't seem to appear anywhere.

thnx mixer - very interesting
renaming to 3gp didn't work
changing MediaCoder file container type to avi instead of mp4 did work!
(avicodec still reports h264 as unknown codec)

Your renaming idea prompted me to try renaming a few mp4 files to avi and this worked - amazingl!

that's fine - I haven't changed anything from the default
when I run gspot it's showing
avc1 Codec Status Undetermined
it might be best getting to the bottom of that before contacting Picasa as they'll just say it's a failing of MediaCoder

Also, .avi, .asf, .mov, .wmv, .mpg, .mpeg, and .mp4 are all acceptable file extensio...
